I tried the Flylady thing for awhile, but eventually left because there was no way I could keep up with all the email. I do try to do the little things she suggested though...especially the not trying to do everything all at once part...Good luck!

I have also tried Flylady, and while I couldn't keep up with the email either, some of her suggestions have stuck with me. I do have a control journal or whatever it's called now! as to the hitting, what worked for me with 1 yr olds is to grab their hands and hold them firmly while saying "No, no, no." Then keep holding them for a minute while they realize they can't move their hands. They don't like it and it calls attention to what they are doing but doesn't give them the big reaction that can be amusing to them at that age, It is a stage that will pass!

Jen, I do the same thing I did as when they did something bad when breastfeeding (i.e. biting - ouch!) which is immediately say, "No!", put them on the floor, stand up, walk away, then ignore them for a minute or so (mine would cry and scream when I did this.) My kids hated being ignored so it worked pretty well. Kind of like a baby time-out.

Jen, I took the kid's hand & rubbed it softly on my face/hair/whatever, while saying "gentle, gentle". I would do the same thing when they would pet an animal. If they switched back to the bad behavior when I let go, I would grab & hold their hands still & tell them "gentle or no touching".
