Adopt a Soldier!

Last week, our printer started making hamster wheel noises. No joke, it sounded like someone had put a hamster on one of those metal wheels in there. I called the I.S. helpdesk, and they promised to send someone up.

By the time the tech got up here, the noise had gone away. She checked the printer over, pronounced it fine and left.

This morning, the Habitrail noise is back. Now, the printer is also skipping pages and/or sections of documents we print, too, and giving me a "SER IO ERROR" message.

What a lovely way to start the new year here at work.

Do yall like my new background color? I learned how to use a color wheel the other day. Ill turn this into a respectable web page yet!

New Years Eve turned out to be nice, actually. The Boyfriend and I went out to brunch in the early afternoon, then ran a few errands and stopped at the EXPO store (a fancy Home Depot offshoot) and played in the fake kitchens and bathrooms. I found a bathtub I would kill to have in my houseits round, with a 72" diameter, like a big soup bowl for your bathroom. It was fabulous. I wanted to climb in and test it out right there. Not the water partI just wanted to see how laying in it would feel. Have I mentioned my bath fascination?

Anyway, after our visit to EXPO, we stopped at my moms to pick up some of my Christmas stuff, then ventured back into the city to meet Ilana and Chris, who had decided to join our in-house evening. The four of us went to a little thai restaurant in the center of townyummy! Then it was back to the apartment to watch a movie (The Burbsnot my choice, I assure you) and drink some champagne. We watched the ball drop then went to bed. I know it doesnt sound very exciting, but it was a perfect evening, as far as I was concerned.

I really am a boring girl at heart, I guess.

So I told the Boyfriend about the journal. Sort of. I didnt have much choice. I was looking through all the information on the Survivor 2 Diaryland website, and reading through the journals of some of the other people whove applied to be contestants. Chris came in as I was looking at this website. The picture of David with flames exiting his crotch got Chriss attention, and he questioned my web habits, so I explained the contest to him, and how I had filled out an application, blah blah blah fishcakes. Still not convinced I hadnt crossed into the world of web porn, he left and went to see our friend Heather.

Heathers brother is the Boyfriends best friend (which is how we met, a story for a different entry), and the Boyfriend happened to be at Heathers house when Chris arrived. Chris told him I was at home surfing porn sites. The Boyfriend was confused. Chris explained that hed walked in and found me reading mireillies diary, and that Id offered up some contest as an excuse.

Later that night, the Boyfriend came over and told me about his conversation with Chris. I didnt have much choice but to fess up about my own Diaryland website and the contest form Id filled out.

Now, the part of this that makes me angriest is that the picture of David isnt a big deal. Not sure what made Chris get all weird about it. But because hes got serious homophobe issues, I ended up having to tell the Boyfriend something I wasnt really ready to share.

WhateverI also told him, though , that I hadnt mentioned it because it was something I was keeping close, and that I didnt want anyone I knew to read it because it would change what I wrote in it. These things were both (mostly) true. I dont think hell seek it out. And if he doesThen I deal with the consequences. Not going to worry about it, though.

The I.S. people are back, hopefully to take the printer out to the back pasture and shoot it.

Happy New Year, Diaryland!
