Tuesday night's BtVS episode left my little group of Buffy watchers befuddled. My friend and roommate, Chris, offers his take on how the next Slayer season will begin.
My Buffy Theory

Next season, we start with the FUNERAL. No one is going to put fun back in funeral. People will cry and gnash teeth.
GILES will announce that the COUNCIL has contacted him, and that there was no mention of a new SLAYER
during their talk. Rather, the talk was about taking GILES back into the fold. GILES intends to move back to jolly old England, since nothing is keeping him here. He finds it curious that the COUNCIL has not mentioned anything about a new SLAYER, but as his protege and near-daughter BUFFY, has just DIED, he isn't thinking quite straight.
Meanwhile, there may be several flashes to BUFFY, (confused as to the state of events, since she just CROAKED) in a place were everything is white and anti-septic. There might even be a couple of creepy "don't bury me, I'm not DEAD" scenes, where she sees her own FUNERAL as a ghostly image, or as seen through DAWN's eyes.
XANDER and ANYA ask WILLOW and TARA to be co-maids of honor at their WEDDING. There is a talk between XANDER and WILLOW about how much both of them want BUFFY to be there as maid of honor. DAWN is naturally
flower girl, and GILES, as the only real authority figure in ANYA's life, gives away the bride.
BUFFY talks to JOYCE in a sort of LIMBO. JOYCE asks
BUFFY what she's doing there; it 'feels' wrong to JOYCE that BUFFY is dead, maternal instincts notwithstanding, she says, in effect, "Your time has not come yet. Go back to your friends. They need you. All people need you." BUFFY and JOYCE embrace.
At the end of the EMBRACE, BUFFY materializes during a RITUAL of REMEMBRANCE done by WILLOW and TARA, and
attended by the whole SCOOBY GANG. Since BUFFY should not be DEAD, WILLOW's POWER is getting incredibly strong, and the RITUAL cannot commemorate anything not truly DEAD, instead of creating an everlasting image of BUFFY as fitting tribute to her noble SACRIFICE, the RITUAL REINCARNATES the lost SLAYER before her friend's very eyes. BUFFY awakes, crying, and looks at DAWN. BUFFY says one sentence to her 'SISTER': "MOM says hi".
Roll CREDITS. Break out TISSUES.
