Going on two years late, now. Whatever--who cares--it's Christmas!

So, lets say that your review is now a year and a half late.

Your one boss keeps promising youll go through it, but nothing has yet materialized. In the course of your daily work, you have to go into your other bosss office to get a letter hed not faxed successfully on Monday (hes out today), and you see, sitting in his inbox, open on his computer, an email that says, Jennifers review.

Do you open it?

Lets say, just for the sake of argument, that you do. And what you find inside is a rather negative review, stating the areas in which you need improvement. Now, you read through the review and agree with much of what it says. You may have mentioned several times along the line in your diary that you hadnt been the best employee ever for a while. But the review states that while you used to do your job very well, you dont seem to be doing it very well right now. Which you also agree, with, sort-of, but that isnt the point.

Lets go back, for a moment, to the part where we stated that your review is a year and a half late, shall we?

Do you get angry at your bosses, who have noticed that theres a change in you, but whove just continued along for months, being dissatisfied but not saying a word, until they HAVE to write up a review for you because THEIR boss is holding them over the barrel?

I think you do. I think you get really pissed that youve gotten no feedback at all from someone, one of your bosses, at least, who youve always believed would be up-front and straightforward with you, since shes not said word one on the subject up until now.

You might even start to draft, in writing, your response to this review, even though you arent supposed to have seen it yet.

But thats just a guess

Anyway

So on a happier note

Christmas was wonderful. Dinner on Monday was fun and full of all the right people (thanks for coming, Brian!). I didnt get to go to church, since they moved the service to 9:00 instead of 11:00, and wed basically just finished eating at that point, but regardless, it was a great evening. Even the last-guest-out-the-door-at 3-am part didnt phase me.

Tuesday couldnt have gone better. I was ridiculously spoiled by all sorts of people. Everyone liked his or her gifts. Mom and David came down to Betsys for dinner, so I got to have my family at the dinner table. Everyone was on good behavior and truly enjoyed each others company.

I couldnt have asked for better.

Soul soothing, I have to say.

I hope your day went somewhere in the vicinity of as well.

Now, I need to go home and go to sleep. Thats the one thing I havent done much of these past few days. My bed is calling my name.
