The word on the street is that we're getting a whole new washing machine. Cross your fingers, everyone. Dennis, the head of the repairs section at GWT, said he's "cautiously optimistic." Me, I'm cautiously optimistic in jeans that really need to be washed.
In other news, the kitchen mini-makeover is almost complete. As a refresher, the table wall used to have this lovely wallpaper on it (as seen behind the yummy veggies last summer). And the cabinets used to look like this. If you look at that one carefully, you can see the lovely stenciling not only on the cabinet doors but also on the wall below the cabinet. The windows were topped with cornice boards pained that 50's kitchen green color. The rest of the walls, other than the one with the nasty wallpaper, were just dirty once-white, and the doors to the cabinet that held the dishes was painted just like the other one.
Step one was to take down the cornice boards. Then the doors came off the dish cabinet. Step three brought an end to the wallpaper, leaving us with this:
The Husband patched the wall and insisted on sanding a little bit. It's interesting what happens to dust in the air with a digital camera:
The painting came next, the week before Easter. Now, I'm finishing the touch up paint in a few places (and I still need to paint the doors, but we won't mention that just yet) and putting up the border, but we're close to done.

It feels SO much nicer in there now. Like it belongs to me, not the woman who lived here before us. Notice the bread box on the counter!
Either there's a hoot owl in the crib or Will is up. That would be my cue.
